THIS IS ME
“I’m a German girl stranded in Miami singing a song…”
Verena’s trademark is the purity of the voice that moves from a crystal-like tone to a more storytelling, velvet expression. Coming from Opera but growing up listening to pop music she always found herself straddling the fence between her natural ethereal, clean sound and a more raw and modern expression of her real-life, down to earth lyrics.
Verena first started singing In Germany at the age of 8, moving straight to studying classical music as a Coloratura Soprano.
After moving to Miami, Florida to study Journalism she found that telling a story could be done combining both passions, writing and singing! She started writing songs and experimenting with different genres and sounds, borrowing from pop and classical in a fierce pursuit to combine both.
While still being firmly rooted in singing Opera & Jazz for a decade and performing in Theaters and Jazz bars, she began writing her own, more Pop oriented material, resulting in the first record “ Something Real”, which still had some classical influences.
In 2004 she was cast in the popular US TV Show “Single in the City: South Beach”, where her performance for the Winter Music conference was broadcasted and much of the musical journey to cross over from Opera, now incorporating electronic music, was captured.
After collaborating with Brazilian DJ Klauss Goulart she released a Dance/ House mix and continued to explore more of a Pop style, yet always relying on that pure signature tone, embracing some of the higher vocal registers.
Her latest release features a return to her German roots in a collaboration with a German rap artist in a German Rap/ Hip hop and Pop fusion genre: “Picture of me”
